Lion Jerry McAlister
Lions Club International recognizes outstanding individuals by
bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones. This
fellowship award is the highest form of recognition and embodies
humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The
recipient of this award is a model to other Lions because of exemplary
service to their club and the community which it serves. Jerry McAlister,
who has been a Red Oak Lions Club member since 1993 years received the
Melvin Jones Fellow Award Jul. 6. He has served the club in many capacities
over the years including serving on the board of directors and holding the
position of vice president. Immediate Past President, Lester Mitchell said
"Lion Jerry is a fixture at almost all activities the club has. Jerry is
always available to help take care of the club facilities. He is the
resident electrician and handyperson for most all construction and upkeep at
the club. Jerry is a valuable member of the Red Oak Lions Club and is
greatly deserving of the Melvin Jones Award." McAlister and wife of 45
years, Pat, have two sons Paul and Adam. He retired from Dallas Airmotive
where he was an aircraft technician. In his spare time he enjoys playing
bridge, fishing, putting together 3,000 piece puzzles and spending time with
his family.
