Don't miss the "All U Can Eat" Pancake breakfast from 7:00-11:00am on Saturday, February 20. This event is held to raise funds to serve the Red Oak community. Help us serve the Red Oak community.

Don Newman was selected as the Red Oak Lion of the
Year for 2009. Lion Don has been a member of the Red
Oak Lions Club since 1992 and has been a very active member holding the
positions of tail-twister, vice president, and was president of the club
during it’s 50th year celebration.
Lion Don has been treasurer
since 2002 and participates in all of the club’s activities, community
activities, and is devoted to his family and church.
Lion Don has been an
active
member of the First United Methodist Church of Red Oak since January 1990 and a
member of the Waxahachie Community Theatre since April 1992. In his spare
time he enjoys fishing, golf, photography, and travel.
Lion
Don stated that he was totally surprised and proud of receiving the Lion
of the Year award. He is most appreciative towards the
club for selecting him for such an award.
New Officers Installed
An installation ceremony was held in July 2009 for the incoming officers
of the Red Oak Lions Club. Lion Lester Mitchell was elected as the club president
for the 2009-2010 term. Lion Les has been an active member of the Red Oak Lions
Club for many years and we very much look forward to his leadership.
Lion Fred Smith is the club secretary while the club Vice Presidents are
Lions Melanie Peterson-1st Vice President; Richard Cantrell-2nd Vice
President; Curtis Begin-3rd Vice President. Other officers include Treasurer
Lion Don Newman; Directors: Lions John Hawkins, Jerry McAlister, and Carol
Smith; Lion Tamers: Lions O.D. Gaither and Dale Wright; Membership Chairman
is Lion Pete Anderson and Chaplain is Lion Reed Pierce.
Tail Twisters are Lions Charles and Drotha Daubitz.
The Red Oak Lions Club meets at 7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at the Lions Community
Center, 207 W Red Oak Rd in Red Oak.
Lions club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in
their local community as well as in communities worldwide. Their volunteer
efforts go beyond the support of vision care, to addressing unmet health
and education needs worldwide.
